Winter Holiday In SLovakia - Mountain Village of Zuberec

This trip will give you the chance to try out many of the winter activities in the magnificent Tatra Mountains. You will be based in a mountain village Zuberec every day doing a different activity. All activities included in this trip take place in and around Zuberec. There are three ski areas which you can choose from. These slopes are suitable for beginners but also for more experienced skiers. Mountains around Zuberec provide excellent terrain for a day of snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is quite easy and everyone can do it!

 

Flights to Poprad, Krakow, Kosice, Bratislava.

1.) TRAVEL TO SLOVAKIA
We meet our guide at the airport and then load our luggage onto our bus. We then transfer to village Zuberec where we will be based. We check in our Pension or Hotel. The program for the rest of the day will depend on the time of arrival.

2.) DOWN HILL SKIING / SNOWBOARDING
After our breakfast we get hire our skis or snowboards and will go to one of the slopes. There are two slopes just by the village suitable for beginners and families with children. Slope Zverovka is much bigger slope suitable for more demanding skiers. This slope is 8 km away from the village. Our guide will organize a transfer for us if we want to ski there. In each of the resorts there are a number of fast food restaurants. At the end of the day we return back to our hotel.

3.) SKIING & THERMAL POOLS
Today we do two different activities. In the afternoon we carry on skiing. At around 1 pm we return our ski equipment back to the rental shop and then we have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Our bus will be ready to take us to near by settlement called Oravice where we will find out-door and in-door thermal pools. Zuberec - Oravice (9 Km). Thermal waters in Slovakia are very beneficial to the humans body and have a considerable cosmetic effect appreciated mainly by women. We spend three hours at the pools before we return back to Zuberec.

4.) LUNCH WITH LOCAL FAMILY & SLEIGH RIDE
To day we will have a free morning to either relax at the hotel or go to for a walk in or around village. At round midday our guide will meet us at the hotel and then we all go to have lunch with one of the local families. You will be served a traditional dish called Halusky. This is potato dumplings with cottage cheese and sprinkled bacon on top of it. We will also try some of the home made drinks like Slivovica and Cucoriedkovica made out of the hand picked blueberries. After lunch we do our sleighs rides on one of the slopes.

5.) SNOWSHOEING & OUTDOOR MUSEUM
Snowshoeing is an activity enjoyed by more and more people. We will transfer to the near by ski centre Zverovka. This is where our snowshoeing will start. We put our snowshoes on and will walk up the slope for a while before we walk into the forest. Our guide will lead us through the forest walking on beautiful quiet paths, with the view on impressive rocky peaks. One of the highlights will definitely be seeing the frozen waterfall Rohacsky. This is a great place for our picnic lunch. Altogether we will walk approximately 5 hours. In the evening we will visit the outdoor museum Brestova with many log houses, old church and other amazing assets of this amazing museum. To make this visit even more adventures we will walk around the museum with hand fire.

6.) DOG SLEDDING
Once we are ready and have our breakfast we again get onto our minibus and will be transferred to the nearby fields for our day of dog sledding. All dogs are well trained for this activity. Our guide will show us the correct way how to do this activity. To keep us warm we will have some boiled vine and tea with some snacks. There even might be a chance to make an open fire. For lunch we return back to the village.

7.) FREE DAY
On this day we can decide what we can do. Our guide will help us to organize all that's needed.

8.) DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport.
